As the name might suggest, the GorillaPod Original was the first released GorillaPod. It was primarily designed to hold compact cameras and video recorders. The maximum weight that the GorillaPod Original can hold is 325g which is suitable for pretty much every compact camera out there. Even though the GorillaPod Original wasn't the first tripod with flexible legs, it was the first tripod that could be wrapped around pretty much anything and everything. This is what put Joby in a completely different league to other tripod manufacturers. No other tripod can allow you to attach a camera to a tree branch or a golf club for example. It is the perfect securing feature made for mini video cameras or compact cameras. The release clip easily connects to your camera and makes for simple and easy setup. Furthermore, the lock ring is capable of holding just about any electronic gadget under 325g.
